Q: Is The Cured Leaf a licensed medical marijuana provisioning center?
A: Yes. The Cured Leaf is fully licensed and qualified to operate as a provisioning center by the State of Michigan Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) and the Traverse City Clerk’s Office, in accordance with the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act and its promulgated Rules, the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, and Chapter 845 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Traverse City. (Traverse City Ordinance, State of Michigan Legislation, State of Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs)
Who is permitted to enter The Cured Leaf provisioning center?
Only qualifying patients with valid medical marijuana registry ID cards, parents or guardians of qualifying patients who are under 18 years old with valid medical marijuana registry ID cards, and registered caregivers with valid medical marijuana registry ID cards, are permitted to enter and purchase products. (Traverse City Ordinance)
How do I become a qualifying patient and obtain a valid medical marijuana card?
- To register as a medical marijuana patient in Michigan, you’ll need to have been diagnosed with at least one “qualifying condition”, which includes: Cancer, Crohn’s Disease, Glaucoma, Arthritis, Chronic Pain, Seizures, or Severe and Persistent Muscle Spasms. This is not a full list of qualifying conditions (See LARA – Medical Conditions for Medical Marijuana for the full list of medical conditions).
- If you have been diagnosed with one of the qualifying medical conditions, and seek to include medical marijuana as part of your treatment plan, talk to your doctor. If your doctor thinks that you are likely to benefit from medicinal marijuana use, then he or she must fill out a Physician Certification Form that is part of the patient application packet.
- Once that is completed, potential qualifying patients should visit www.michigan.gov/lara to retrieve the entire patient application or fill out the online application.
- Qualifying patients who have been approved by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) can visit The Cured Leaf once they receive valid registry ID cards from LARA.
